Ranger

He's got a big heart
and tons of try in him

HORSE: Ranger
REGISTRY: Grade
AGE/GENDER/SIZE/COLOR: 19/Gelding/15 hands/Blood Bay

Ranger was born and raised on the Tule River Indian Reservation and grew up working cattle in the mountains. He still has a big motor and a “no quit” heart the size of California. Ranger was trained by Chris James, a great roper from the reservation, as a head or heel horse. Chris rode him on the heel side in the Bob Feist Invitational (BFI), and has won too many jackpots, saddles and buckles to count. Chris’ two daughters, learned to rope on Ranger and went on to be members of the UNLV rodeo team.

I bought him approx. 10 years ago when the great Bobby Adair, a member of the Quarter Horse Hall of Fame, told me “King, buy that horse. He’ll teach you how to rope!” Bobby was right. Ranger knows his job so well that about all you have to know how to do is nod for the steer.

Since I bought him he’s seen and done it all. He’s won money, saddles, buckles, and has been across Death Valley, Monument Valley and hauled grandkids around the ranch.

Ranger is a long time member of the family and will be sorely missed. He deserves a new owner that has the time to love and use him. In his prime he was never outrun but even though he’s slowed down a step or two, he still has a big motor, lots of years left and a lot to offer. He would make a great horse for high school or junior rodeo, a beginner team roper (header), a heeler (any level), or a trail horse for any level rider. $5500
